baglady

Sis and I are all alone at PS house now, I mean without mummy, hahaha...she left for KL with her 3rd aunt to shop bags. So Vicki and I decided to live the good life by sleeping to 12.10 pm. =). It was a long time ago I really got to lie that long in the bed, haha. It was extra nice too since yesterday's 3 and 1/2 hour hokkien opera thing made me extremely tired (which you might understand if you try one time :P).

Just called mummy and it seems like she already bought a couple of bags, so can't wait until she get home so I can see them =), whenever that is, haha...

Still think Jonathan was crazy buying this YSL bag for RM 6000+ something and then he didn't even want it so he gave it to auntie Jessica instead. Lucky mother anyway even though it is not the prettiest bag but it is really big so suits my storage of "jj" things to bring when going out.

OMG!!

Saw this on Yahoo!

PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, Manitoba - Passengers aboard a Canadian bus fled in horror as a fellow traveler viciously attacked his seat mate, repeatedly stabbing him and then severing his head, witnesses said.

Police said a 40-year-old man was arrested after the grisly attack late Wednesday night aboard a Greyhound bus en route from Edmonton, Alberta, to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The suspect was captured as he tried to escape from the bus early Thursday about three hours after the violence, Royal Canadian Mounted Police Sgt. Steve Colwell told reporters.

Authorities declined to provide details beyond that the victim had been stabbed. They said a motive hadn't been determined and refused to identify the suspect or the victim.

But passenger Garnet Caton said the victim, who appeared to be about 19, was sleeping with headphones on when his seat mate suddenly began stabbing him as the bus traveled a desolate stretch of the TransCanada Highway, a dozen miles from Portage La Prairie.

Caton, sitting just one seat in front of the two men, said he heard no exchanges between them prior to the violence.

"We heard this bloodcurdling scream and turned around, and the guy was standing up, stabbing this guy repeatedly," Caton said from a hotel in Brandon, Manitoba, where he and other horrified passengers were taken.

Caton said the driver stopped the bus when he became aware of the attack and passengers scrambled off. A short while later, Caton said he re-boarded along with the bus driver and a trucker who had stopped to see what was happening.

He said the suspect had the victim on the floor of the bus and "was cutting his head off" with a large hunting knife.

"When he was attacking him, he was calm," said Caton. "There was no rage or, or anything. He was just like a robot stabbing the guy."

The attacker turned toward them and the three men quickly left the bus, blocking the door as the attacker slashed at them through an opening. The three secured the door to prevent the man's escape. Caton said the driver disabled the vehicle after the attacker tried to drive it away.

As the three guarded the door with a crow bar and a hammer, the attacker went back to the body and calmly came to the front of the bus to show off the head.

Cody Olmstead, another passenger, said the man "dropped the head and went back and started cutting the body." Olmstead said the man later use the head to taunt police.

By midday Thursday, the bus was still parked at the side of the highway, surrounded by squad cars as white-suited investigators examined the vehicle and ground nearby.

Greyhound spokeswoman Abby Wambaugh said there had been 37 passengers aboard, many watching a movie when the violence erupted. She called the attack tragic but isolated.

"You're sitting there enjoying your trip and then all of a sudden somebody gets stabbed. I imagine it would be pretty traumatic," Colwell said.

He said the actions of truck driver, bus driver and Caton probably prevented anyone else from being hurt. They "were very brave."

The victim had been on the bus since Edmonton. Caton said the attacker boarded the bus in Brandon, Manitoba, about 80 miles west of Portage La Prairie.

The suspect had been on the bus about an hour and initially did not sit near the victim, Caton said. But changed seats after a rest stop.

"This particular incident, as horrific as it is, is obviously extremely rare," said Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day. He did not provide any details, saying he did not want to jeopardize the investigation.

heartbreaking 14 days

In exactly 14 days I'll be back in Sweden and I am crying inside everytime I think about it. Why is time so powerful ? Why can't we rule the time instead of time ruling us ? Those questions are left for...I really have no idea actually, to decide I guess...

PG will be home soon and then we will go to KL to watch some comedy thing, really have no idea, but they seem like they really wanted or expected us to follow tonight, so ain't going to turn them down...you have no idea how kind and giving they have been to us. I have nothing but gracefulness to give them. I think I am even going to miss this house, haha...big achievment since I hated to go here when I was smaller and did everything and anything I could come up with just so I didn't have to go to PS house =)...

But that was also before...when I was a small girl, when grandma was still alive and when...when everything was perfect - but it wasn't. Everything is never perfect even though you want it or not. Things can be for the better or worse, but never perfect...keep that in mind readers, haha...

done is done

So now it's done. Yesterday we went to mum's 3rd aunt and I just watched the fan spin snd spin and spin while being as wet as Amazon River =.=. Walking over to KP (Klang Parade) later was the greatest experience ever because of the air-cond !!! Going over today again because of Thursday's PM (Pasar Malam). I don't really know why but I have always liked Thursday's PM the most. Maybe because it was the only one I went to when I was smaller so I got attached to it, haha...=)

Another thing that is done is folding "paper money", the ones you later burn to the one that died. Today, just exactly 1 year ago Am died. If Liang Jie is reading this he knows who I am talking about, hehehe...anyway, so yesterday night mum, sis and I staid up to 01.30 am. just to fininsh folding them all. Think I folded more then 1000 because this wasn't the first time. I don't know how many hours I have spent on folding those papers actually, but now there is no more to fold, thankful for that =). I think it came to be 14 big bags or maybe even 15...yeah a lot.

Soon I'll be leaving too...and I am crying inside already ;(...

Music wars: Classical vs WHO?

"Everyone has the right to think that their music is best, including the teenagers who hurry through Toronto's Bathurst subway station to escape the classical music played through the PA system to deter them from hanging around. But only classical fans and organizations believe that the quality of their music gives it and them a natural entitlement to the lion's share of public funding." - Canon Fire Robert Everett-Green

Now we have a hot issue. Public funding of the arts. I'd like to hear Obama and McCain talk about that as it applies to culture in the Unites States and abroad. Maybe music could again serve as a powerful unifying medium for global politics.

The only problem would be that everything else is likely to take priority, thus leaving the dialogue and decisions up to "WE the People" I doubt we will do any better finding common ground on the arts than we do with religion and politics.

Again, if we even discuss it openly, we should likely prepare for "a whole lot of ugly from a never-ending parade of stupid"

Good music is good music. Performers and audiences alike need to be open minded and inclusionary. Classical or not, the government cannot and should not legislate artistic preferences.

Music in particular is a live and thriving art form, not something relegated to preservation status in a museum. People everywhere should be performing and doing music, not just consuming it from their iPod or CDs, or even records. Perhaps if we all made more music, then we wouldn't have to worry about it so much. Like Nike says: Just Do It!

Culture Wars: Obama & McCain or Me & You

I read this article on the Washington Post/Newsweek site today and this paragraph seemed worthy of more thought. Can and should the president really get involved in the so called culture wars? I think it is inevitable that a leader must engage in this arena, but the writer was correct. We started it. We "the people" are in some sort of perpetual internal war. We have forgotten how to love one another, take accountability for our own actions and simply agree to disagree.

From "A whole lot of ugly"

" 'Senators McCain and Obama,' they concluded, 'each of you has great potential to model a new type of leadership. Each of you has the power to heal the country and carve a new path forward through our shared common values. We humbly submit our joint prayer that you, Senators McCain and Obama, help bring a just end to the culture wars.'

That would help, but it's not their job to end the culture war. We all started it. We're all responsible for what we say, write and do that increases hostility towards liberals or conservatives or any group of people whose beliefs differ from ours."

One comment on the full article above. If you click through to the original, I think the comments on that thread speak for themselves. People brought a "whole lot of ugly" at the author, so he must have been "right" in there somewhere.

How I choose to spend my time and my families' resources answers the question tactically and actively for me and you. Do I choose to demonstrate hospitality and a model of inclusionary civil discussion, or do I embrace discord and seek a larger sense of "being right"? That is the question isn't it. Who exactly is right?

From: Attitude + Action Required
" 'It is not enough to be right' was my statement in a recent Life Community class at Huguenot Road Baptist Church. Christians and Christian leaders in particular have to find a way to include and embrace diversity of attitude and action while maintaining a spirit of compassion and consideration.

How do we get better? Bring the right attitude and Transform it into action! We have to actually love those around us. WE have to care and sacrifice for people we may not know very well. This isn't easy, but it is the way."

Job Update...

...it's going well and I think this week we will mutually decide if it's a good fit for both of us. Until then so sorry I haven't blogged! I totally have been so busy with work I have nothing else to talk about! Ok, let's talk eye candy...not much, I don't leave my desk much. I know there has to be some fine ass thugs on the line but I rarely go out there. So until I take a moment and go see what's available in the plant, let's just look at this. ;) peace

Genting Highlands vs. Pankor Island

Had a busy schedule these past days, or should I say the whole week. And there is more to come, haha.
Sunday-Tuesday: Genting Highlands
Thursday-Friday: Pankor Island
Saturday: Gan dinner (with PS, PG and the Oprah People)
{tomorrow} Sunday: God dinner (with uncle Alvin)
{the day after tomorrow} Monday: God dinner (with PS etc.)

So see, quite busy these last few weeks and I haven't even gone to KL for some shopping yet ! Anyhow Genting was a lot of fun even though we didn't (sis and I) go to the Theme Park because it was awfully cloudy and pouring rain the whole day, so thank God we didn't buy tickets. 5 rides were close when we asked them in the morning and they said that they were gonna stay closed the whole day - the most fun (or terrible rides mummy would call them). So that was day 2, Monday. On 1, Sunday when we went up with PG (stands for Precious Godmother - long story, tell you some other time =D) in the morning after dim sum and a terrible Neslo (Nescafe and Milo if you didn't know), we checked in to our wonderful hotelroom at Resort Hotel, so we said good bye to First World, haha...we had a big room at First World but at Resort it was huge !!! And I loved it, okay, can tell you later all details about the trip when I upload photos I can show, so you don't have to imaginate (haha) so much la =).

Then there was Pankor Island. HOT, quiet (because it was Thursday) and expensive ice-cream (prizes almost like Sweden, so I am getting spoiled by the Malaysian prizes, haha). ^^
It was a lot of fun with uncle Kevin as our driver and it was quite a nice company with uncle Alvin, his wife and Yik-Yik too...uncle Kevin wanted to drive to Penang as well, but we had to insist since we promised PS to join them to the Gan dinner and so on...otherwise that would had been nice too but there are other times mah..=). Also have lots of pictures but I have to upload them and I don't know if I can do it here so we'll see when it happens...

Anyhow, it was all great (except all the snoring in the hotelroom in Pankor, uncle Alvin, his wife, Yik-Yik and uncle Kevin are to blame) so I am kind of exhausted still because I haven't got enough sleep...so good night ! =.=

Adoration: Obama-anity

Does anyone else out there think the media is overdoing their "love affair" with Obama just a bit? I know a lot of people like the man, but come on..

I also know that I have declared as a John McCain supporter, but the tone of every interview and soundbyte seems to almost ooze "I Love You". I seriously do get that the man has charisma and appeal. He had me thinking about him for months. Yes he is black, and is a poster child for diversity, and a role model for millions of underprivileged kids and adults for that matter. There are athletes and actors and plenty of others who fit this bill. Can he actually LEAD this country?

He is campaigning to be our President and he needs to show more than flash. The speeches often sound good, "believe, change, etc" but he has to be able to actually deliver on all that idealism. How about a little Straight Talk? When will he start answering HOW he will do all of the things he is talking about. The soaring rhetoric is beautiful and elegant and reminiscent of the campaign that Bill Clinton forged to my naive eyes and ears. He talks of partnership and change and a "world view" that is new. Exactly, how will all of that be executed?

Also, why is a "candidate" for President of the United States campaigning in Germany? I simply don't understand it. I think maybe he should get elected here before he tours the world talking with such presidential manner. Sorry, for this last bit, but it did irritate me personally. Is it just easier to get on TV and get more coverage by talking to Germans? What exactly does that say? I wish I knew, but it doesn't seem good to me. I'd rather see a rally on Hollywood strip with Americans.

The Streak

So last night I check into my room and turn on the TV while I put my clothes away and settle in for the week. I turned it to PBS and I saw that this program was on called The Streak, it was about high school wrestlers who hadn't lost a match for like over 400 times...the streak has went on for years. I got so engrossed in it, then the streak ended and it was so hard to watch because these kids were so hurt by it, the first team to end the streak since the 70's...it was heartbreaking. I can only imagine how they felt, that sense of failure...but I give it to them...they did their best. If you can check it out on PBS, it's quite heartwarming and humbling. I found this link when the streak ended. If you can catch it on PBS you can see how they cried and were oh so hurt, but they did redeem themselves later. A new streak so to speak ;) peace

Walked the walk, not just talk.

How many times have we all heard the promises, the ideas, the "rhetoric".

I am a guilty as most of talking too much, but in the last few years I have refocused my actions and made choices to deliver results. Not always popular, often requiring great sacrifice... I succeeded sometimes, failed a lot and I have gotten better and better over time. That is the great equalizer of experience coupled with a spirit to learn and constantly improve.

Instead of the Wall St fund disclaimer, perhaps our captions should read like this: "past failures coupled with willingness to change are a good indicator of future performance". Mantra of champions is usually to keep trying and get better and better. Don't be afraid to fail.

Great article on the transformational experience model of John McCain in NY TIMES.

True, experience is not enough in the end, but then again when the stakes are high and failure is not an option, is there any real substitute for experience? I often wish I could say yes, but the older I get, the more I think the answer is simply no. The ruling authority, will always exist, and if possible, the most change can be accomplished from within its stark, guarded halls.

express

Really been busy body today, in an express kind of way, haha. First went a quicky to Bukit Tinggi's Jaya Jusco to hand in the DKNY clock mummy bought like 2 weeks ago; it had a scratch on it. Then quick home, eat, shower, change clothes and off to Sunway Pyramid (which took like 50 years with uncle Alvin - mum's little brother - and only 15 min with oldest cousin, but he is speeding like crazy though...

At Sunway it was express too. We had 2 hours to meet them up (uncle Alvin, auntie Ah Hong and Yik-Yik) and I realized that Guess makes me sad !!! Because I love their stuff and want like almost everything (mostly their tops or dresses, jeans, the cute bags etc.) but I CAN'T but everything because the damn prizes. They say SALE. You go in - what the...!? No freeking sale la, that cutie-cutie top for RM 339 something with what, 10 % off - yeah, yeah, really sale...=.= Calvin Klein we shouldn't even discuss ! Everything was sold out !!! Anyway didn't buy anything but sis did. A camera. A red one, Sony. So tomorrow when we go to Genting I can catch some realy good pics to show later =)

Before we left I saw this girl...mini, mini pink hotpants (which didn't make it better =.=), and a shirt, you know the one you wear in an office, the thing is that she had a white (thank God) bra under the shirt (not buttoned) that she had tied just over her belly button. Walking there with her boyfriend (who I don't understand can hold a girl that dresses as fugly as her) and his guy mates behind...God, she could just had took it all off, la. Better walk around naked than lookng like that...really today's FASHION FLOP !...

Obligations of Obama & McCain

I heard an interview on NPR yesterday with Brian Mclaren who is supporting Mr Obama. I think very highly of Brian and have visited him at his church n Maryland, in addition to reading almost all of his books. The story on NPR used a biblical quote/ imperative to listen to a man's words as a grounding for voting.. This got me thinking about what I am obligated to do for this election, system etc.. and what the candidates and parties are obligated to do for me.

First off, I am stunned that so many people think that we should so centrally use religion as a litmus test for a president. The principles set up by our nations' founders were rooted in an understanding and respect for religion but they understood that the line had to be drawn short of religious litmus tests and mandated belief systems. There are plenty of things we need to talk openly about and understand how these gentlemen think..

" thousands of conversations, millions even -- around dinner tables, sitting at the beach, during hikes and boat rides, online, in church fellowship halls, and parking lots -- about truly important issues for us as Americans and as Christians. We'll need to talk about race, war, poverty, sustainable prosperity, the environment, energy, national unity and fragmentation, torture, what it means to be a moral leader in the family of nations"

We need to have some idea of who they are as men. That comes by listening to their words, and applying a critical lens, but for me it is most important that we review there "entire" lives and find consistent themes of honesty, patriotism, service, and humility in the face of an often crushing political publicity machine. The issues are there now, and have always been there.. People make the difference.. Who are they? We as citizens, must take accountablity and actively learn about them..not just sit back and listen to TV and Radio Ads.. We must take the time and do the research. The obligation starts with me.
  • I am obligated to help and love my neighbor.
  • I am obligated to support and participate in the political system of our country.
  • I am obligated worship and serve my community with a spirit of humility.
  • I am obligated to learn continually and to seek understanding and wisdom through prayer and bible study.
  • I am obligated to act and show my beliefs in my daily labors, not just talk about them.
  • I am obligated to stand up and testify.
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. --Micah 6:8 NIV

What are our two candidated mandated to do for us as presidential candidates?
I have my own list as a starting point. I wonder how/if it will change in coming months?
  • Conduct themselves with honesty and integrity.
  • Talk to us about what they think, and who they are. (not just what their party's represent)
  • They must know the constitution and have a plan about how to fulfill their coming oath to us.
  • They must be able to lead and surround themselves with leaders of integrity.
  • Above all, as candidates they must tell us what they plan to do, and are capable of doing.. not just what we want to hear.

"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." -- Oath of the President of the United States

Which of them can execute this oath and list more effectively?
I know what I think. John McCain. I encourage you to focus on why you would vote for your candidate of choice. It must be more than any single issue. What are your expectations? As a citizen, they are obligated to earn your vote.

... pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. --1 Timothy 6:11 NIV

yucki-yucki-yuck feeling AND smell =.=

I was forced. Forced to eat yucki-yucki-yuck...=.= One piece (the smallest one I could find) and I really felt sick...had to go rub my teeth with Darlie right after because the water didn't make any effect at all and we shouldn't even discuss PS toothpaste - it is not working at all ! Expensive but not any better than Darlie or Colgate ^^. So what am I talking about ? The King of the fruits - durian yucki-yucki-yuck...

Leaving PS house tonight. (Finally, haha). Been here since Monday, but they ain't going to let us go before dinner with the "Oprah People" we call them, hehehe (they are from Taiwan, making those 'big movies', singing and acting live in Hokkien). We're going for seafood in which you might already have understood since I am in Klang - Port Klang.

Haha, the funny thing is that I'll be back in this house tomorrow LOL xD...since we are heading up early on Sunday with destination Genting Highlands in front of us =) Iiiiiih for that xD !!!

Mclaren: Presidential candidates

Anyone thinking about not voting should read this thoughtful commentary by celebrated author Brian Mclaren.

http://blog.beliefnet.com/godspolitics/2008/07/to-vote-or-not-to-vote-by-bria.html

Here is a comment/quote that really struck me.

" I don't expect any candidate to be perfect. In fact, my theological beliefs tell me that I will always be choosing between the lesser of two evils - or more positively put, the better of two less-than-perfects. The fact that candidates are willing to endure the hard work, the media scrutiny, the pressure, the responsibility - of both the election and the office - can be seen a sign of something good. After all, if all a candidate cared about was personal peace, personal comfort, or personal wealth, there are a lot better ways to get ahead. So rather than say, "I don't think either candidate is good enough for my vote," I'm more prone to say, "Thank God that people are willing to run at all, and thank God that we have two candidates as good as the ones we have." We could be choosing between Mugabe and Mugabe."

scary reality

Scary shit. Just got home from supper with PS etc. and we heard from the neighbours (also family) that some man was here and was shouting if anyone was home. They said that there wasn't anyone home since he made so much noise...then he started banging at the fence (like some prisoner it sounded like) and then I think he left, on a motorbike...we should certainly be more careful now on they said and we all agreed, I mean not forget to lock the doors and close them even if we are at home because you never know what will happen. Even though it was tonight, you never know if he will come back someday, who knows maybe tomorrow, but I can't think of those thoughts...really freeking me out...and Bobby didn't even bark, naughty dog, always bark at stranger but not at criminals.

Malaysia is a paradise but a dangerous one. Haha, hope I can get some sleep later...

Rhetoric vs Reality

Couple of comments came in today on my McCain post and they struck a chord with me.  I have definitely spent a lot of time in the past few years trying to figure out where to embrace reality.  I recognize that I often revel in rhetoric. I guess that is just how it is.

As much as I try to become objective. I can't embrace indicting and accusatory ideas very well. This gets me and many into trouble when we have to make hard decisions.  Guess it is good I'm not running for President.  I'll say a prayer for those who are.

I sincerely hope that we can all cut through the rhetoric and find an objective standard on which to base our decisions. Mine aren't perfect, but then again, I'm not sure any are. I'll keep working on it.

Consistency through inconsistency.

Oh, I got the job BTW...

...my bad! lol, I've been so busy with getting things together. Yes I now have a job and today was my first day and I'm exhausted and I didn't do anything!! It's entry level and I only took it to get my foot in the door for this department and hopefully move around from there. I am basically living in a hotel 4 days a week in the Bay Area until I figure out where to go from here. Not sure where I want to live now, be in the Bay? Do the 2 hour commute each way from the Valley? Decisions decisions, I think I'm going to wait and see if me and this position will be a good fit. Would be silly to move down here and then not like the position, we both agreed to go temporary first to see if the match is good. 3-4 weeks and we should know then, on the other hand I get to work my cousin who is my best friend so even better!! Ok, I need to relax a bit before I have to get up and GO INTO THE OFFICE...ugh you all know I miss my working from home days! Oh well, sacrifice for the greater result I guess. Hope all is well and I do work for an auto manufacturer and the plant is right there and while I have yet to see anyone who looks like this, I'll keep my eye out! ;) peace

je veux un noveau bikini aujourd'hui !

Just came over this little cutie when I was surfing and J'ADORE it ! =). I can really see myself sitting on the beach somewhere under a palm tree that is slowly moving back and forth to the warm breeze that just came in, sipping my ice-cold mangojuice (freshly pressed of course) and just waiting for McDreamy to come and join me there while watching the sun go down and I will just look at my bikini and say "damn this one is really bringing out the best of my curves, it's truly a keeper" before...

...I realize that I don't own that bikini yet ^^...wonder if I have to ask Yazzie (cuteiii friend) to order it for me, since I am not in Sweden now...guess I have to live with the 2 I already brought with me of the 5 I have, hahaha...^^J'adore Bikinis !

Decision Made: McCain

I am a republican through and through.. yet I have spent months thinking about voting for the Democrats. I haven't been pleased in the past few years with my parties' performance.. however, I have to say that in the past few weeks, my decision and support has been made clear. My gut tells me to go with integrity, patriotism, knowledge and experience.

John McCain is the right choice for our future. I hope more and more people will spend time reading, learning, listening and thinking very carefully instead of listening to the media. Learn and think for yourself.. use your own personal experience to make decisions.

Mr Obama has personality, energy and charisma, but by his own admission, a tremendous lack of experience. John McCain and his straight talk express are the way to go.

Our world is out of control, our political system isn't perfect... we need leadership not just "hope" Hope is not a management strategy. It is essential, but it must be what is left, not where we start. Change for the sake of change is useless ultimately. This is, indeed, a change election...But, the choice is between the right change and the wrong change; between going forward and going backward. We have to be going somewhere and have some realistic plan of how to get there. This plan must be rooted in the reality of our violent, ugly world with all of its complexities rather than the eloquent, rhetoric of campaign. Don't hope for change.. Vote for leader that can take us into the future with options. Plans don't mean much, as Eisenhower said, but Planning is everything.

Leadership requires experience, willingness to make hard calls, and integrity. McCain has all of these. For a look at his "positions" check out his Decision Center... a great comparison page.

I write often about transparency and honesty in leadership. I felt an obligation to declare my position so that I could write freely in the future. It was time to get off of the fence and join in the system. Dialogue and debate are important for decisions like this but my decision is made. From now, I'll be a resource to help others with their decisions.

If you are interested in helping me, help John McCain get elected let me know. While I am not a Vet, I am now an Area Coordinator assisting Va Vets for McCain and the National McCain campaign 08. We can use your help. This group, led by some real patriots and heros is mobilizing and making a difference for our future in Va and beyond.

haiz...it's sometimes like this la

I don't really have anythng important to really, really write...or have I ? My mind isn't that clear at the moment and my updating has sucked so, I have some ME-information only available at this moment, hahaha. Am I being selfish ? Interesting food choices

Does anyone watch Corner Gas? Our cable is out so we get like 10 channels and this show was on one of them, WGN? I think...all I know is I live in Cali and I'm watching the news in Chicago at 5pm on this channel...hmm. In any case it's ok, it's Canadian and while I didn't bust out laughing I did chuckle a moment or two. The thing that struck me most was this food thing they were doing. So there is this diner who has a regular customer named Brent, well he eats at the diner every day and basically pays the light bill with as much as he eats. Well the diner owner names a customer of the month...and it's not him. So he decides to brown bag it to work (he owns the gas station, I think). So, since he ALWAYS eats at the diner, he has no food in his refrigerator so he is taking a pickle and jam sandwich and then he takes a cream cheese and olive sandwich. Uh, um...those sound HELLA good to me!! Seriously, cream cheese and olives? I don't like pickles or jam (I don't have a taste for sweets) but together it sounds delish!! I like weird food, or actually weird combinations...like cottage cheese, sunflower seeds (with out the seed) chocolate pudding dipped up with a cucumber slice! That is da bomb diggity!!! Mmm...now I'm hungry for chili fritos and cottage cheese...mmmm!

Today's Weather...

...was 110!!! Hot as hades! Plus with all the fires burning in our lovely state, the smoke and air quality is horrible. Really the temps and air quality in California surely is not Wonderful...but Leonard...it is. :)
I have an interview tomorrow for a company I'm interested in and a position which...is not my favorite but once I get in and able to transfer to another department in another position...well that is my goal. They promote from within and are all about growing and expanding your skill set. So, we shall see, until then...try and stay cool and enjoy these guys who definitely make me hot not to mention who cares about the air quality? We wouldn't be leaving the house! (bah!) we would be playing srabble...*grin*.
;) peace

MultiVocational Vacations...NOT

Balance is the trick but it may not really exists, at least not in a linear form. For sure, the cycle time for restoring balance is difficult for me to handle these days. As the scales tip from one side to the other, it seems to take a LONG time to correct. That is a dangerous cycle, that means I need to make, more, smaller corrections.. instead of the big ones.. OR DO I?

Just like many artists, I am forced to maintain a "day job" to sustain my family. Our world doesn't value classical artists even when they value the art. We are just the entertainment for the week in most cases. Certainly not worth, paying for... when movies, and HD TV are available. (sorry that is a whole other tangent)

I have used my vacation time for performing in the past few years but that has put me into a dilemma. I don't ever seem to get a vacation. My recharge time is extremely limited and in the past months, it seems to take me longer and longer to switch gears between "vocational" committments.

Perhaps, I am rekindling my passion for performance.
Perhaps, my job at C1 is more demanding and bleeds into my personal life.
Perhaps, the demands of my family are growing as the kids get older
Perhaps, I am not adjusting the time "blend/ballast" fast enough to stay afloat.
Perhaps, I want to do more and more at my church and I feel guilty about my lack of time.
Perhaps, I need to refine my goals, and only apply my time against the high value targets.

Perhaps, I am not so different from anyone else out there
Perhaps, I over-intellectualize everything
Perhaps, I am just naive as I actually think I can control and manage this mess.
Perhaps, I need to just sing.
Perhaps, I really am as scattered as I fear... Don't tell anyone ;-)
Perhaps MULTIVOCATIONAL=SCATTERBRAINED in the end no matter the person...

pictures !!!!!

OK, now I fixed my pictures from JB and Singapore...enjoy =)

First we stopped by in PJ and met Cotton for the first time =D

Then we came to JB and I played the guitar, not really...but I tried LOL..

Ate A LOT of cake and pastries over there, cupcakes from KL and cake from my new favourite; Secret Recipe, you have to try their White Chocolate cake which is HUGE and delicious and worth its every cent, I can tell you and their cheesecake is sooooo moist !

OK, that was JB but we can't forget the Singapore trip =) Sentosa was where the most of the day was spent xD...

These pics give me cravings to go back tomorrow...haha...Genting this Sunday, anyone want to join ? =)

wedding, wedding...

Finally sis helped me fix the bluetooth on PS laptop so now I can show pictures again.
Wiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeee for that !!!! =D haha...

Yesterday I was at a wedding dinner, so pretty everything and classy; they did it all in western style (almost I mean). They had a cermony before the dinner arrived and then they had all this pictures they ut on a big screen, showing them from babies to the trips they made together and then of course the wedding pictures. They even had a professional photographer there the whole day, he was sneaking around like a paparazzi, quite freeky sometimes, hahaha...:P

Going home to Gong Gong's house later, mummy say he must really miss to cook for us =) and YEAH - Gong Gong cook ! Good too, haha...but I can't say better than mummy because then I will starve when I go back to Sweden 0.0...haha.

Old and New

In the past few weeks, Tracee and I have been privileged to travel around and perform quite a bit. Musicians are strange creatures. Perhaps it is a performers curse, our souls seek out the art form for which we are suited.

I spend hours on this computer, writing, thinking, and "communicating" yet, I feel more disconnected than ever. It is so exciting to see names and faces on services like facebook and linkedin. Memories of old times return in a rush of emotion and energy. When I couple those "old" experiences with recent ones, at the Lasker Summer Music Festival, at the Powhatan 4th of July concert, and then this morning at Bon Air Baptist.. I am encouraged. The memories that seem to matter all revolve around making music and spending time with family. Connected or not, it is the actions and not the words that matter.

My community sustains me, both old and new. It burden and constrains me, both old and new. Connections to systems, and institutions set the bar for success. Connections to people and the future sustain and fulfill the soul. God is Love, he is our Alpha and Omega, truly...

Singapore express

Singapore really amaze me, I mean what happened to the Singaporeans, all I saw was Japanese, hahaha =P x). Haha, I had the greatest day ever and saw a lot during just one day and transport ? Whatever, you name it, we tried everything MRT, taxi, bus and we used our legs, and of course I can't forget the little long little "golf car" in Sentosa. Forget Orchard road - maybe it's famous, haha but we get to experience so much more with Amui jiejie as our guide xD.

So I can happily announce that my first time in Singapore was happily the best trip so far =)...actually there is a lot I want to say, but I don't know I'll just blablabla with mummy and Vicki instead because I'm better at talking than writing about what I really, really want to say, hahahaha...but I can say that this ain't going to be the last time I go to Singapore !

PS. pics will come from this trip when I get back to Klang x).
